Basketball

Dear Carncot Basketball fans,

The Carncot basketball team’s successful season has just drawn to a close.   The team suffered a narrow loss to Mana Tamariki in the final of Pool 2.  It was a hard fought game, however, and a fitting end to a season full of successes.  After careful canvassing, here are the Top Ten Highlights from the basketball season:

  • Full-on games of basketball being played on the outdoor courts for the first time in years
  • Shareef’s steal and coast-to-coast basket against Mana Tamariki in the final
  •  Super-intense games of Knock-Out during practices.
  • Receiving medals from Manawatu Jet, Miles Pearce.
  • Jack Jones’ amazing no-look, globetrotter-style, backward-flick pass to Thomas for the lay-up.
  • Improved dribbling, shooting, passing and defending skills.
  • Players’ development from the first game to the final was plain to see.
  • Wisdom, guidance and encouragement from team coach and guru, Paul McDonald.
  • Teamwork, teamwork, teamwork. We became one of the best passing teams in the competition.
  • Come from behind win in the semi-final against PNACS to make the finals.

and the season’s top highlight is…

representing Carncot School in such a positive way.

Conratulations to all nine players and coach on such a wonderful season.  Well done, and bring on 2016!
